I HATED PewDiePie Until I Saw This Video..
Who is PewDiePie?
PewDiePie is a Swedish YouTuber that became super famous for playing video games like Mine Craft on his channel due to his funny commentary. I honestly did not like him and felt he was pretty cringe and even annoying to see in my newsfeed. Maybe it was just the Brooklyn inside of me that didn’t want to put any respect on his name but I just ignored his content entirely. I really found myself not really caring about his videos or his existence at all until I started seeing some weird news about him.
Huge publications like The Wall Street Journal, Forbes and even CNN started writing articles about this quirky guy and that really made me question what the hell is going on now. Why would famous and credible news organizations start writing about this young man and furthermore start calling him xenophobic and even racist. Now you got my attention, Felix.
I’m not racist and I def don’t approve of any morally offensive content on my site or elsewhere but I always have to question the media after realizing they always lie about a man’s character in order to ruin his reputation. I mean look at Trump and Obama. Leftist news like CNN made Trump look like the was going to cause WW3. Did it happen? Nope. Conservative news like Fox made Obama look like he was going to end the world. That didn’t happen either. So I really had to question the MSM’s motives with PewDiePie of all people.
Then I saw something about him hiring some guys on Fiverr to write “Death to all Jews” as a joke to see if they would actually do it. It was a dare to see if Fiverr really did hold up to it’s promise of delivering its services. Well it worked but damn the MSM went in on PewDiePie and we had sites opining that his content helps normalize ideologies such as fascism, neo-Nazism, and white supremacy.
That is wild.
The Wall Street Journal even alleged that this was not the first time PewDiePie had used anti-Semitic language and imagery in his videos. PewDiePie and the two individuals later apologized, but the event led Maker Studios(my former network as well) to cut their ties with Felix and Google to drop him from the Google Preferred advertising program and cancel the upcoming second season of the Scare PewDiePie YouTube Red series. Ultimately, he apologized for his jokes, but strongly rebuked media coverage of the event, with particular criticism aimed at The Wall Street Journal. Funny I used to work at WSJ.

Born and raised in Gothenburg, Sweden, Kjellberg registered his YouTube channel “PewDiePie” in 2010, primarily posting Let’s Play videos of horror and action video games. His channel experienced substantial growth in popularity over the next two years and he reached 1 million subscribers in July 2012. Over time, his style of content diversified to include vlogs, comedy shorts, formatted shows, and music videos.
Kjellberg’s channel became the most-subscribed on YouTube on 15 August 2013, but after he publicly vied for the title with T-Series in 2019, it currently holds the title of the second-most subscribed, albeit remaining the most-subscribed operated by an individual. Kjellberg had the most-viewed channel on YouTube from 29 December 2014 to 14 February 2017, and the channel currently ranks as the 23rd-most-viewed, and the sixth among those operated by an individual. As of April 2021, his channel has over 109 million subscribers and has received over 27 billion views.
Kjellberg’s popularity on YouTube and extensive media coverage have made him one of the most noted online personalities and content creators. Due to this audience and media attention, his coverage of indie games has created an Oprah effect, boosting sales for titles he plays. In 2016, Time magazine named him one of the world’s 100 most influential people.
