Explaining Twitch Culture

Welcome to FrankLegend.com where we review the most viral content online. Today we be Explaining Twitch Culture. This article is for anyone who is curious on how Twitch culture works, how a streamer builds a community, emotes, inside jokes etc.

Twitch is a video live streaming service that focuses on video games and other content. Many people have turned to Twitch as their full time job and make a living playing video games.

A community is built through personal connections. Twitch allows for content creators to do this in a unique way. On Twitch streamers can do gaming, just chatting, art streams or even listening to music. This grows a small group of followers that like the same things.

A Twitch community is built when a streamer has a consistent schedule, welcomes new viewers to their streams, uses emotes, focusing on what got them into streaming to begin with and caring about what they can do to make their stream better for the audience.

Streamers have to pay attention to the chat. Answering questions, saying their viewers names and remembering them or even asking how the stream is going are all important things to do while streaming. This will make it so that they feel involved in the stream and with the streamer.

A streamer can ask their chat a simple question and laugh at the responses with everyone. Reacting to what the chat says will show that the streamer does care what they say and do. This will also make the chat be more active and talk between themselves.

One way Twitch streamers build their communities is by making special emotes. These emotes can help grow their following by the hidden meaning behind each of them. For example a streamer could a make a emote about a show or movie he watched and references a lot.

From there he can make the emote that not just catches the attention of new viewers but also something that his current fans laugh at and understand the hidden story behind it. This will make it so that his fans feel more connected to the streamer and the stream in general.

A parasocial relationship refers to a psychological relationship experienced by an audience. This basically means that a viewer can develop a very unhealthy relationship with the streamer. This normally happens to big streamers like Ludwig, Pokimane, etc.

With the most extreme cases having the viewer believe they are actually in a romantic relationship with the streamer which could lead to stalking. This is because they actually think that they have a relationship with these streamers.

Twitch has various expressions that each have their own story on how they were made, who said them, their meaning etc. Here are a few expressions and their meaning.

  • POGCHAMP: If you want to express being surprised.
  • META: a trend that’s used by multiple popular streamers on the site.
  • GG: Meaning GOOD GAME and is used to show respect to not just you but your opponent.
  • POGGERS: If you’re surprised or excited.
  • TRIHARD: If something exciting happens on screen, hype is building or an exciting announcement is made, feel free to use this emote.
  • JEBAITED: If someone in chat or on stream is trying to bait or troll others, use the emote to call them out.
